Recommended Journals
The library subscribes to many journals in print and in electronic format. Search the Library catalogue by the title of individual journals for details. Use the databases to find individual articles in journals.
Some useful journal collections for environmental management are:
- CSIRO Publishing Journals
- Highwire Press Online host for 60 scholarly societies and publishers sample.
- ScienceDirect Full text access to titles to which La Trobe has a print subscription.
- Wiley InterScience Full text access to all Wiley journals, over 300 titles.
Why search for journal articles?
- Journal articles are an excellent source of scholarly, up to date information.
- Journal articles are reviewed by experts before they are published. This means that journal articles are much more reliable than most webpages.
- Journal articles tend to focus on specific aspects of topics.
- To identify whether the Library holds a particular journal (either print and/or electronic), search for Journal Titles on the Library Homepage. For example:
- While the Australian Journal of Botany search above will link to the full-text journal, if your search locates a print journal, the information usually looks like this:
- Look at the location information and call number for your campus. Look at the "Library Has" and "Latest Received" to work out whether the article you want is included in the print collection.
