The Library holds an extensive collection of books relating to Gender Studies. A search on Gender studies returns over 1600 entries for items in the catalogue.
This abundance can create problems.
1. Define your search terms
Use words from your essay question to create a search in the catalogue

How does the institution of marriage play a role in maintaining a particular gendered social order in Western and/or non-Western contexts

2. Sort by date for the most recent publications
3. Evaluate your results. Not all of them will be relevant
4. Find the call number of the book. Call numbers group books about the same topic together. Go to the shelves find your book and look for other relevant texts in the same area.
5. Use the subject headings to find more books on the same topic
