FACTIVA
Factiva is the most comprehensive online collection of newspapers that we have access to. Note that the newspapers that are covered by Factiva are generally not listed in the library catalogue. Note also that The Australian Financial Review is not available via Factiva.
To access Factiva, go to the library home page and click on Articles via Databases, then click on the letter 'F'.

Enter your search terms here (1). Remember to use connectors (and, or) to join the parts of the search. The wild card is the asterisk (*). Terror* will retrieve terrorism, terrorist and terrorists.
Change the date range (2). The default search is the most recent three months. Note that the default search only searches Australian newspapers (3). See notes below if you want to search both Australian AND international newspapers.

If you get too much information, use the Modify search option and restrict your search to words in the Headline and Lead Paragraph via the More Options link.

To change the search from Australian newspapers to all newspapers, click on the link (1) once.

This will change the Selected Sources to All Sources (1).

To determine if a newspaper is online via Factiva, enter the name of the newspaper in the Find a Source box.

Click on the Information icon to get coverage information. Click on the title to select that title to search as a source.

Note that coverage for each newspaper varies.
