Academic Skills
Writing
Achieve@Uni provides guidance on writing for engineering. This resource also includes an annotated sample of a technical report in the writing reports section, and guidance on literature reviews.
Academic Skills help
Pathfinder helps students to further develop their academic writing and other study skills. You can go prepared with specific questions, or ask for feedback on your drafts by meeting with a PLA or ASA (as below). Please note: PLAs and ASAs can advise on structure, formality, clarity, language etc. They cannot edit your work or advise on content.
Peer Learning Advisors (PLAs)
PLAs are experienced students who have been carefully selected to help you with your study and assignments.
You can drop in to see a PLA via Zoom or Face to Face on campus at certain times Mondays to Fridays during semester.
Academic Skills Advisors (ASAs)
Academic Skills Advisors have specialist qualifications in academic language, education, English as an Additional Language and similar, and can advise students with more complex needs. Appointments with Academic Skills Advisors are more suited to longer, more in-depth consultations.
Online appointments are available on Mondays to Fridays.
Discipline Hubs
The Discipline Hubs connect you with expert tutors who provide support in the maths, science & coding skills you need for your degree.
These and other Library supports for your study can be accessed via the Study & Research support page.
