Editing video
Importing media
To work with any footage or other media you have to create your video, you first need to import your media into Camtasia. You can find the instructions on how to do import from a variety of sources including your desktop, your phone or cloud storage here: Import and manage your media

Cutting clips
If you didn't film your video all in one take, or even if you did but want to clean up some parts, you'll need to learn how to split and trim your content and put it all together in an appealing way.
- You'll often have a bit of dead air at the start and end of your footage; you'll be able to remove these bits of unengaging content by using the trim tool, which can remove footage from either the start or an end of a clip.
- If you have one clip that you need to split into two because you want to add in a diagram, another clip or remove a mistake from it, you can use the splitting tool. This allows you to drag your cursor to any point in the clip and cut it in two at that point. This can also be used when editing voice-overs to remove "ums" and "ahs" from your final product.
- Be cautious when using transitions. Too many transitions or transitions that are high energy can get exhausting to watch very quickly and can make your video look unprofessional.

Title cards
A title card is a way of opening your video and establishing what it is about up front. It will usually list the name of the video and, depending on context, the name of the person presenting the video.
- Make sure you use a font that is easy to read, so try to stick to large font sizes and sans serif fonts.
- Make sure the background behind your text isn't too busy or you won't be able to read the text. A solid colour is often more effective than a background image.
- Use high contrast between the font colour and the background colour to ensure the text can be read.
- You can create title cards in Camtasia, or you can use a slide template and save it is an image file and import that into your video project.
