Citation alerts

Citation alerts

Citation alerts are offered by some free and fee-based database providers.

  • Document citation alerts are notification of newly added documents that cite a specific article.
  • Author citation alerts are notifications when any paper published by an author is cited in another document.

The process for setting up a citation alert generally involves:

  • setting up a database account
  • searching a database to identify the desired paper or author
  • activating the alert by selecting the 'set citation alert' link
