Step 3 - Make your final decision

The third step is to use the information you have gathered about each journal to finalise your decision.  

Decide which journal is the best fit for your manuscript and personal situation in terms of its: 

• aims, scope and target audience 
• reputation of the editorial board and publisher
• efficiency of the peer review process and publication timeframe
• open access options, author fees and licensing
• journal metrics and ranking within a field or sub-field
• journal indexing in citation databases
