Frequently asked questions

H5P is a tool in the LMS that supports active learning by allowing you to create interactive content activities.
H5P is currently supported by EdTech Teaching support in Education Services. For urgent assistance please call 9479 1500, Option 1, then Option 3. Otherwise, log a request online through Ask EdTech.
There are 30 H5P content types in the LMS from the simple Accordion and quiz types through to the more complex Virtual Tour, Interactive Video and Branching Scenario types. The easiest way to see all of the H5P content types and what each can do is to visit https://h5p.org/content-types-and-applications where you can use and explore H5P content types. Note: not all H5P content types are active/installed in the LaTrobe LMS.
H5P works across devices and platforms including computers, mobile devices and screenreaders. The goal of the developers is for H5P to support the WCAG 2.0 AA standard. Most of the H5P content types already do. The approved list of 27 H5P content types were reviewed and approved by the H5P Reference Group which included an accessibility assessment by Inclusive Resource Development, La Trobe University. IMPORTANT NOTE: This does not guarantee that the content you put into H5P is accessible. See also the Tips and Traps section.
If you have a question or would like to provide feedback, you can discuss with EdTech.
Yes you can. H5P content is created and stored in a subject's content bank and can be used throughout a subject from there. Students already have access permissions to use any H5P content that exists or may exist in the future. See the Tips and Traps section for essential information to get started.
If the publishing option of the H5P object is set to Public, the content can be embedded anywhere and anyone with the link to the content can see it. This includes the LMS or external websites. If the publishing option is set to Protected, it may be inserted into an LMS and seen by anyone with access to that LMS page.
