Journals

The main citation rules for journal articles are contained in Rule 5 of the AGLC. Be sure to read through each of the sub-rules carefully.

This is a collection of Australian law journals and non-law journals. It is useful source for finding Australian journals articles by topic, case or by legislation title. You need to use the filters in the sidebar to limit your search to "AGIS Plus-Text" under "Source" once you have received your initial results.

This a comprehensive Australian journal index database that allows searching by topic, case and legislation cited. It is hosted by Westlaw and can only link directly to those journals that Westlaw publishes, but can provide citations for you to follow up elsewhere for other publications.

Casebase Articles is an index rather than a source of journal articles, but can be useful if you want to search for articles that have mentioned a particular case, or that have discussed a particular provision of legislation.

Although it is a US-based platform, the Hein Online Law Journal Library can be useful for journal articles covering Australian law. 

Don’t forget you can also use Library Search to search across the entire collection of journal articles available, but think carefully about your search terms (see the Legal Research and Referencing Guide as well as the Finding Information section of Achieve@Uni for hints).

Click on “Law and Criminology” in the sidebar to access selected databases that are particularly useful for legal scholarship.

Use Ulrichsweb to check whether a journal is peer reviewed/academic/scholarly or a trade publication. Some assignments specifically require resources from academic or scholarly sources (which includes peer-reviewed sources).
