Westlaw is one of the main legal information publishers. La Trobe has access to the following Westlaw databases:
- Westlaw Classic AUWestlaw AU is an Australian legal database published by Thomson Reuters. It contains essential authoritative commentary and secondary sources on Australian law, and the legal encyclopedia, Laws of Australia. It includes databases covering many specific areas of Australian law.
- Westlaw USNorth American content and some international content
- Westlaw UKUnited Kingdom content and some European content
Wolters Kluewer/CCH
CCH iKnowConnect an Australian legal database published by Wolters Kluwer. It contains essential authoritative commentary and secondary sources on Australian law, focusing on the practical application of the law. It has many databases covering many specific areas of Australian law such as and specialises in corporations law, tax law, environmental law, family law, property law, intellectual property law, torts law, industrial relations and others.
CCH can be difficult to browse and search.
In the sidebar locate the practice area of the resource you are looking for, click on the plus signs and expand the list. When you click on a document level link (with a tiny document icon next to it), the document will appear in the right hand side panel.
You can save links at the document level (which is generally a chapter or paragraph, rather than a whole title) by clicking on “Save/Email” at the top of the panel, and then selecting “Save link to document”.
