Footnoting explained

In-text

Refer to your footnotes using a superscript number in the body of the text after punctuation (this is usually at the end of a sentence).1

Footnotes  

The corresponding footnote number appearing at the bottom of the page can be superscript OR in line with text. Choose one way and be consistent e.g.,

1 Anne Waddingham, ed., New Hart's Rules: The Oxford Style Guide (2nd edn, Oxford, UK: Oxford University Press, 2014), 332-335.

OR

1. Anne Waddingham, ed., New Hart's Rules: The Oxford Style Guide (2nd edn, Oxford, UK: Oxford University Press, 2014), 332-335.

Bibliography

The bibliography is listed at the end of the essay and is a complete list of all the resources you have used while researching your essay. It can include the references you have cited as well as other sources you may have read but did not quote from.  It is arranged alphabetically by surname.
